Release from 13.10.2025
Luckless weekend for new recruits Reid Taylor and Travis Olander in SX2 class.
Taylor was fast from the outset during Round 1 of this year’s AUSX Supercross Championship, qualifying seventh onboard his Husqvarna FC 250 before racing to a strong P4 finish in the first of two SX2 Finals on Saturday.
Running towards the front for the entirety of the second encounter, it would all come unravelled for the 21-year-old in the closing stages, as a late-race collision with another rider left him with a broken wrist. He withdrew from Sunday’s competition altogether and is scheduled to undergo surgery this week.
For fellow recent SX2 signing Olander, he continued to build back to form as he returns from injury, finishing inside the top 15 during Saturday’s second race after an unfortunate DNF in the first Final.
For Sunday’s Round 2, the young rider powered his Husqvarna FC 250 to the 14th fastest qualifying time, before battling hard towards the top 10 in Final 1 to post a well-earned 12th place.
Olander then improved to earn his best result of the weekend in the second SX2 Final, claiming 10th place, which saw him finish P12 overall in the second round.
In the SX3 Class, Raceline Husqvarna Tdub Racing Team's Jake Rumens finished 13th on Saturday onboard his Husqvarna FC 250 in what was his first AUSX outing, while Husqvarna-supported rider Jack Deveson finished sixth in class on Saturday, before improving to P2 on Sunday.
"We made progress throughout the weekend and that was the goal entering rounds one and two," commented Olander. "It was unfortunate to DNF race one on Saturday, but that's how it goes sometimes. Sunday was a good rebound to be fighting in the top 10, and I would say that this was definitely a confidence booster as we target more results for the upcoming rounds. A big thanks to Todd and the team for all the support."
"Redcliffe was an up-and-down weekend for us," reflected Todd Waters. "Reid was riding so well on Saturday, and to have it all taken away right at the end – when he was contending for a podium – is gut-wrenching for him and the entire team, and he unfortunately broke his wrist in the incident. Travis executed the plan we had for him pretty well. We knew he'd be building back toward form, and that's exactly what he did by finishing with a top 10 in the second SX2 race. We'll regroup now and come out strong in Cronulla."
