Husqvarna South Africa’s Grant Frerichs was content with the results coming out of the second to last round of the Motocross National Championship after the team travelled down to Welkom this weekend. "I'm proud of the team for the effort today, Neil found some speed and intensity over the last few weeks and deserved his overall win after a great performance in both races” he said. He went on saying: “Josh was consistent on the day and made no mistakes on a track which was treacherous awarding him with an overall podium which is great for him.” He wrapped it up saying: “In MX1 Michael Docherty was nothing short of phenomenal, his pace was really good but he ran into some issues by mid moto although he was still able to salvage a great over all result which we are really happy about."

Neil van der Vyver said: "I had a great day apart from my first heat start where I was mid pack and took too long to get through some guys which left me with no time to challenge for the win but I redeemed myself with a win in moto 2, despite a small tip over, which gave me the overall on the day”. Van der Vyver will be taking his lead and championship fight into the final round in six weeks’ time.

Josh Mlimi continued to show improvement as the season progresses saying: “race day was a good step in the right direction, I generally felt good all day and the track broke down really well which made for some tight racing.” He said that in heat 1 he had an average start but had good pace all moto long and ended up in 5th notwithstanding a small crash. “Heat 2 got off to a decent start, I managed to push to the front and ended up in 3rd place, which I’ll take right now, I’m happy with the progress that I’m making, but there’s always room for more, I’m looking forward to the finale!” he said.

Michael Docherty had a phenomenal day on the new 2023 FC450. “In the first moto I was p2 in the start and charged hard to the front and built up a nice cushion where I was able to control the race” he said. “My second heat was a crazy first lap after a small crash I picked the bike up and went really hard making my way to the front by the end of lap 1” he commented and said in the end that the intensity caught up to him due to his harsh set up on the bike. “I was able to settle down and bring home P2 overall in the end which is great result given the challenges" Docherty said
