Team owner/rider Todd Waters ends season 2025 with P9 in final MX1 standings
Team owner and fellow MX1 rider Todd Waters was involved in a spectacular crash at the beginning of the opening race, while MX2 class entry Jack Kukas finished his 2025 campaign with a 15th overall.
After eight weeks away from the race track recovering from a back injury, Duffy raced to a solid result during the opening race of the two-moto format. Onboard his Husqvarna FC 450, the Western Australian rounded the first turn inside the top 10, and was able to ride a solid race to finish seventh.
An early collision with another rider in Moto 2 saw him have to claw his way forward from the back of the field around a demanding QMP circuit, ultimately finishing the race in P15, and ninth overall for the weekend. Despite missing three rounds, Duffy finished his 2025 outdoor campaign in 13th position.
“After having eight weeks off, I wasn’t expecting much this weekend, and I came in with an open mind," reflected Duffy. "I was quietly confident before the first moto, and ended up seventh, which was my best result for the year. It’s not amazing, but it’s those small wins that I’ve been focusing on this season. I was in a position for another good result in the second moto, but had an incident on the first lap. The track was gnarly, I was pretty tired and my back was starting to hurt towards the end, so 15th was the best I could do. It was good to be back and to make the final round.”
Former national champion Waters was involved in a large first moto crash on the start straight, which suddenly ended his weekend and season altogether. Injuries including a broken rib from the multi-rider incident forced Waters to sit out the second moto, which meant he finished the 2025 series ranked P9 overall.
“I hate getting hurt, but that was a big crash," commented Waters. "I tangled with two other riders on the start straight, and we went down hard. There was some force in that crash because it snapped my triple clamps, I hit my head, and broke a rib. I’m pretty tender at the moment, but for how dramatic the crash was, all three of us got out of it remarkably well. I crashed at Toowoomba last weekend as well, so I’m a little disappointed to end the season this way.”
In the MX2 class, Kukas gritted his teeth through a hand injury sustained in Saturday’s qualifying to finish his day with 16-14 race results riding the Husqvarna FC 250. With his 15th overall for the day, Kukas completed the season 17th in the championship standings.
“I think I broke a bone in my hand yesterday when I hit a timber marker on the side of the track," said Kukas. "That turned today’s racing into a battle, but I was keen to finish the series off. I like this track and had hoped for a good result here, but I struggled to hold onto the bars properly. It was a disappointing way to end the series, but it was a good experience riding for the Raceline Husqvarna Tdub Racing Team, and I want to thank them for the opportunity.”
