SX1 class newcomer Jack Mather delivered his best form yet in Wollongong's Triple Crown round of the 2024 Australian Supercross Championship, the Raceline Husqvarna T-Dub Racing Team rider scoring a solid seventh overall.

Mather showed plenty of pace from early in the evening when he finished his heat race with a confidence-inspiring P4 result riding his Husqvarna FC 450.

The teenager then brought a steady energy to the trio of SX1 finals, in which he finished with 7-10-7 results, to end the night seventh overall and move forward to ninth in the championship standings.

Jack Mather: "It was a good, steady day for me and I’m happy with the consistency that I showed out there. It was a track that was easy to make mistakes on, but I managed to keep these to a minimum and come away with two sevenths and a 10th. That’s my best result since I stepped up to the 450s for supercross, so I’m pretty happy with that and with my riding."

SX2 contender Rhys Budd was unfortunately involved in a major incident early in the first heat that saw the race red-flagged. Budd was transported to hospital for further assessments and missed the rest of the evening’s racing – further information will be provided once available.

Kyle Blunden (KTM Group Australia Motorsport Manager): “It’s still very early on, but we’ve had reports come back that Rhys is in a stable condition – he still has a lot of checks and assessments to undergo. It was a very scary crash, but he was in good hands with the RACESAFE crew, he’s being looked after, and our first priority from here is his recovery."

It was a successful night for Husqvarna-supported riders across the development tiers, where Rising Motorsports team rider Jack Byrne raced to third position on the SX3 class podium riding his Husqvarna FC 250, as did Nixon Darragh on his Husqvarna TC 85 in the CR22 85cc Cup.
