The Kingdom of Lesotho welcomed riders to the third round of the National Enduro series on Saturday. With its unrelenting terrain and high elevations, the country was once again enduro paradise for every rider that enjoys a technical challenge.

For PEPSON PLASTIC’S HUSQVARNA RACING’s William Oosthuizen, Lesotho’s unforgiving trails were just what he had been waiting for.  The Natal based rider is renowned for his ability to navigate through particularly testing terrain – a skill that proved to be vital at this stage of the championship.

Oosthuizen maximised his technical ability to chase down his third consecutive victory this season. Besides racing to defend his strong lead in the E1 Class, another motivating factor for Oosthuizen was redemption. The rider was left with a bitter taste in his mouth after his last race in Lesotho and was keen to put to bed any demons that the Maloti Mountains held over him.

“I had a hard crash in Lesotho last year and couldn’t finish the Roof of Africa. It was really disappointing. I came to make the wrongs right, and that’s exactly what I did! It was so good to be strong and able race with 100% effort today,” said Oosthuizen.

Having come painfully close to National glory last year, the 22-year old has rapidly reinstated himself as the favourite for the E2 Championship in 2019. With rivals like Lloyd Kirk hot on his heels, Oosthuizen has set a laser focus on the task at hand as he enters the second half of the season. “There’s no slacking off after this. Anything can happen - there’s still a long championship ahead.”
