NESTAAN HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING SECURE IMPORTANT POINTS.
Lucas Coenen was just superb aboard his FC 250, as he ripped to a dominant victory in the first moto. It was such a commanding ride; he took the early lead, led every single lap and posted the fastest lap time. Seven seconds was his eventual margin of victory. '96' was set to achieve something similar in the second moto, as he was pulling away from his competitors. Unfortunately, however, a stone broke his chain and forced him to retire prematurely. The twenty-five points that were secured in moto one put him seventh in the overall classification, but he was deserving of so much more.
Starting the weekend with a qualification victory set the tone for Roan van de Moosdijk and he showed more of that speed in today's motos, but just missed out on a position on the Grand Prix podium. The first moto was eventful – he battled on the cusp of the podium before reaching the chequered flag in fifth place. Although he had a worse start in moto two, he claimed another fifth place. 5-5 scores put him in fourth overall and helped him gain ground on fourth in the championship standings.
Kay de Wolf, who wore the red plate at the Grand Prix of Germany, desperately tried to overcome the pain that was caused by a midweek crash and showed an incredible amount of determination in motos one and two. '74' left the track with 11-10 moto scores, which put him in eleventh overall on the day and ensured that he remains in title contention. Seventeen points is the deficit to the new series leader in the MX2 division.
Lucas Coenen: "I am very happy with the speed that I showed this weekend and the way that I felt on my FC 250. To get another win in the first moto was amazing and I was very motivated for the second one, but some bad luck meant that we could not finish. There are so many positives to take from this Grand Prix."
Roan van de Moosdijk: "We continue to make steps forward. Winning the qualification race was a nice boost, especially after the podium last weekend, and I had high hopes for today's motos. Although it would have been nice to stand on the podium again, I am happy to put more consistent finishes on the board. We will keep working for more trophies."
Kay de Wolf: "Salvaging as many points as possible was the goal this weekend. There was just no way that I was going to give up and I'm happy with what we achieved. We are already looking forward to the next round in Indonesia."
Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing are prepared for the long jaunt to the other side of the globe now, as the Indonesian double header is next up on the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship calendar. The FC 250-mounted trio will compete in Sumbawa on July 02.
