Husqvarna Racing Team’s Todd Waters has dominated the 2021 Queensland Motocross Championship, winning both rounds at Mackay and Coolum to clinch the QMX1 and QMX2 state title victories.

After a winning outing at the opening round in Mackay last month, Waters entered the second round of series with a three-point advantage in QMX1 and made his intentions clear in qualifying by stopping the clock with the fastest lap-time at Coolum's second round.

Waters carried that pace into race one, riding his FC 450 to a commanding victory to finish 11.406s ahead of nearest rival Kirk Gibbs and set the fastest lap of the race in the process. Race two saw the Queenslander claim another victory, taking the chequered flag ahead of a host of national ProMX regulars. The final affair saw Waters finish P2, securing him the QMX1 championship.

On double-duty and equipped with a TC 250 in QMX2 - one of the few two-strokes in the category - for the state titles, Waters qualified fourth fastest at Coolum in a tightly-contested session, again with a range of ProMX talent in the class. From there, he dominated, displaying both speed and composure to take all three moto wins and seal the QMX2 championship.

Todd Waters: "It was really enjoyable doing both rounds of the Queensland championships, riding the 450 and 250 as well, which is something that is new to me as I haven’t raced the 250 since 2013 - I did both classes to try and gain some fitness. It was really good to take out both Queensland championships, I don’t get to race state title championships much these days, but with Covid it gave me the opportunity with the nationals being on hold to go and race the local races and that was really cool. We got to mingle with the kids, had our junior program there and it was a super-busy weekend for us. To take out both championships was huge for us, because we had the best in Australia there and to get a win against those guys in two classes was a great achievement."
