Husqvarna Motorcycles did very well in the United States towards the end of the 1960s – helped in part by the legendary Malcom Smith after he switched to the Swedish brand. It was Edison Dye that convinced Husqvarna to let him import bikes to the USA and the machines proved a huge success, forcing the factory to dramatically up their production.
