Husqvarna Racing Team’s Todd Waters delivered fifth overall at the fourth round of the 2022 Australian ProMX Championship in Gillman, remaining in MX1 red plate contention.

Husqvarna Racing Team’s Todd Waters delivered fifth overall at the fourth round of the 2022 Australian ProMX Championship in Gillman, remaining in MX1 red plate contention.

Waters recovered from an early fall in the Top 10 Shootout to qualify fourth fastest and rose from a difficult start in race one to make an important pass for fourth in the closing stages.

Moto two didn’t go in favour of the former champion, fighting hard early to hold onto fifth place, where he ultimately finished the race.

After wearing the red plate this weekend, Waters maintains a strong position in the MX1 standings and enters the upcoming races just 12 points from the points lead in second position.

In the ultra-competitive MX2 category, Husqvarna Racing Team’s Dylan Wills finished eighth overall following two intense motos.

Qualifying 12th fastest, Wills powered his FC 250 to a great start in the first race. After being shuffled back in the opening laps, he managed to improve and finish seventh.

In the second moto Wills progressively moved forwards after a challenging opening half and crossed the line P9 to complete the race.

The series now heads to Maitland, New South Wales to commence the second half of the season with round five taking place on 26 June.

Todd Waters: “Starting the day we felt pretty good with everything, P4 in superpole and then in moto one I got off to a bad start and made my way through to behind [Dean] Ferris. My speed was good, but I just couldn't make the passes. In the last race, it was the opposite as I got off to a better start in fourth then Gibbsy [Kirk Gibbs] came by and I didn’t charge - it wasn’t moto I had hoped for. Overall, we come away with not the best result, but that makes us hungry to step things up for the next one.”

Dylan Wills: “It was a tough day. It’s no secret that I am struggling a little bit at the moment, it’s just something I will have to bounce back from. I love this sport and I love racing for the Husqvarna Racing Team, so while it is hard mentally to come back from, I’m going to get back to work and change some things and try some different stuff. We will go back to the drawing board, work out it and then go out and get what I deserve.”
