Husqvarna Racing Team’s Dylan Wills is encouraged by the progress he’s continued to make in his SX1 rookie year of the 2022 Australian Supercross Championship, after claiming another consistent sixth-place finish at Adelaide.

The series’ second round started well for Wills, as he powered the 2023 Husqvarna FC 450 to fifth in qualifying, then charged to a third-place result in his heat race after enjoying one of his trademark fast starts.

Come the SX1 final, the Sydney-based racer again surged off the gate to round the first turn in the top four. Seven laps later he relinquished a position to a racer coming through the pack, but stuck to his rear wheel and made ground up on the riders in front.

Towards the end of the race Wills made a mistake and crashed while passing a lapped rider, but remounted and continued to push forwards, finishing the 20-lap final in sixth position. His consistent P6 results over the first two rounds see him placed fifth overall in the championship standings.

Adelaide also saw a strong result delivered by Jack Mather in SX3, delivering 4-3-2 finishes as he progressively improved to claim second overall aboard his Husqvarna FC 250.

The third round of the Australian Supercross Championship will be held at Newcastle in New South Wales on Saturday, November 26.

Dylan Wills: “I really enjoy coming to Adelaide as the dirt is always awesome. The track might’ve been mediocre, but we Australians don’t get to race as much supercross as the Americans, so an easier track tightens the gap between us all. I’m really happy with how today went though and particularly with how I was able to brush myself off and get straight back into my flow after making a mistake late in the race. I felt a lot racier and that was a big step forward from the opening round last weekend. We’ve got four weeks now to keep working and come out swinging at Newcastle!”
