The extraterrestrial land of the Koue Bokkeveld will host the second round of the National Cross Country Championship this weekend. This region will be unrelenting as South Africa’s best go head-to-head for National glory.

Somewhere within the rugged wilderness that embraces the Cederberg ranges a battle is set to take place...

The extraterrestrial land of the Koue Bokkeveld will host the second round of the National Cross Country Championship this weekend. This region will be unrelenting as South Africa’s best go head-to-head for National glory.

Fresh off the Saharan dunes is multiple national champion Kenny Gilbert. The rider will be confident after finishing 9th overall at the recent Merzouga Rally – a Rally Raid that has tested the endurance of Cross Country riders for almost a decade.

He has since been itching to return to racing - and what better way to do that than with the Cederberg’s gnarly gravel roads and winding mountain passes.

With the winner of the last round out of the mix, Gilbert will be up against his familiar Cross Country foe – Ross Branch. The pair have waged war against each other for years and while the OR1 title is still on the line, show no signs of calling truce.

Also taking his place at the battle line for Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing squad is Taki Bogiages. For this rider, the greatest battle has been against himself after a back injury that he sustained last season. Fans have been left in awe as Bogiages fought back from what looked to be a dismal situation to make his grand return to racing in 2019.

Rounding out the Husqvarna squad is mountain madala Iain Pepper, who has entered the season with all guns blazing after narrowly missing the Masters Championship in 2018.

With just moments before one of the most exciting rounds of the season unfolds, Husqvarna South Africa’s brand manager Fred Fensham commented:

"We are full of confidence going into this round and look forward to the battle in this most stunning part of South Africa, Kenny, Taki and Iain have put in the hard yards and Anthony has done a stellar job of preparing our Husky’s for this event – thanks to PEPSON Plastics, Liqui Moly, Mezeler, Fulvic Health and FMF for making our journey possible!"
